The Director General of National Youth Service Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has cautioned Corps Members to steer clear of any form of criminal activity throughout their service year.
In a statement made available to newsmen by the Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, he emphasized that the Scheme is designed for individuals of good character who are committed to making a positive impact in their host communities, and not a haven for those with criminal intentions.
This was contained in a statement, addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members at NYSC Kwara State Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of the State.
“There is no immunity for any Corps Member that violates the NYSC Bye-Law and other laws of the country”.
“Don’t consume hard drugs, avoid fraud, hooliganism and other forms of misconduct that can lead you to trouble”.
Don’t violate the Scheme’s Bye-Law. Avoid night travelling and respect the constituted authorities because offenders would be sanctioned”, he said.
General Ahmed also advised the Corps Members to adhere strictly to NYSC dress code.
While presenting the Camp situation report to the DG, NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr Joshua Onifade said a total of 1,319 Corps Members comprising 593 males and 726 females were registered.
He stated further that the Corps Members have exhibited high level of discipline and have comported themselves in an orderly manner in all their assigned duties since they arrived camp.
