The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel across various ranks for misconduct and other disciplinary offences, while confirming the promotion of approximately 17,000 senior officers.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, disclosed this during a press conference at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, where he reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability.

According to an official statement signed by the Assistant Commandant of Corps and National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, the disciplinary actions followed official correspondence received from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) after its meeting.

The sanctions imposed on the affected personnel include dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and warning, depending on the nature and gravity of their respective offences.

Audi explained that the affected officers were subjected to established disciplinary procedures, including proceedings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees, which examined the allegations and recommended appropriate sanctions.

He noted that the recommendations were subsequently ratified by the CDCFIB, stressing that the action underscored the Corps’ determination to enforce discipline and uphold professional standards across its ranks.

In a related development, the Commandant General confirmed that the Corps had received the list of approximately 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion, as earlier announced by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.

He assured that the promotion list would be made public and communicated to the benefiting officers in due course.

Audi reiterated that the NSCDC would continue to strengthen institutional discipline, promote professional excellence and improve service delivery in the discharge of its statutory responsibility of protecting lives, property and critical national assets.
