The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has charged newly inaugurated recruits to prioritise national interest, demonstrate commitment to duty and uphold the core values of the Service.
Adeniyi gave the charge on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Lagos, while reaffirming the Service’s commitment to producing competent, disciplined and professional personnel through quality training and improved facilities.
According to an official statement on the event, the Comptroller-General, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Training and Doctrine, DCG Suleiman Chiroma, said the recruits had emerged from rigorous selection exercises based on their potential to contribute meaningfully to the protection and advancement of Nigeria.
“We expect nothing but the best from them, and we expect service delivery. We are going to do our best to train them and put them on the path to national recovery, national growth and national prosperity,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the recruits would develop into worthy ambassadors of the country, stressing that their success would depend on their willingness to work diligently, embrace discipline and demonstrate dedication to their responsibilities.
The CGC also inspected ongoing developments at the college, commending improvements to the sports facilities, clinic and parade ground, as well as the hostels, bathrooms, kitchen, classrooms and general environment.
“When I went around, I was impressed by the improvements we saw in the hostels, the bathrooms, the kitchen and the classrooms, and in fact the general environment,” he said.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Patience Ita, urged the recruits to maintain good conduct and uphold integrity throughout their training.
She expressed confidence that the cadets would gradually adapt to the demands of the programme and acquire the discipline and professional competence required to discharge their duties effectively.
The training initiative underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s drive to strengthen personnel capacity, promote professionalism and improve service delivery in support of national development.
