The Military Pensions Board (MPB) and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) have held discussions on the implementation of the new national minimum wage and its implications for the welfare and pension entitlements of retired military personnel.
The discussions took place when the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, Air Vice Marshal M. Abdulraheem, received a delegation from the commission during an official visit to the Board’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to an official statement signed by Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, Public Relations Officer of the Military Pensions Board, the chairman expressed appreciation to the delegation and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to ensuring that pensioners fully benefit from approved wage and pension adjustments.
Abdulraheem described the implementation of the adjustments as a priority, given their direct implications for the welfare of retired servicemen and women.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Board’s procedures for reviewing pension entitlements, validating pension records and ensuring that approved adjustments are accurately reflected in pension payments.
The team also interacted with the Board’s management staff and observed the systems established to promote accuracy and facilitate the timely payment of pension benefits.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss pension administration and the processes required to ensure that approved adjustments are properly implemented for eligible retired military personnel.
The Military Pensions Board reiterated its commitment to the prompt, transparent and dignified payment of pensions, while maintaining its focus on the welfare of retired members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
