The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the temporary unavailability of all 33kV outgoing feeders at the 132/33kV Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Substations following the collapse of three transmission towers along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV transmission line corridor.
According to an official statement by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the incident occurred at about 4:06pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when the 132kV Karu-Keffi-Akwanga Single Circuit Transmission Line tripped on overcurrent relay protection amid rainy and windy conditions.
TCN said investigations following the trip revealed that Towers T78, T79 and T80 had collapsed, prompting the company to promptly isolate the affected line for safety reasons.
The development has consequently rendered all 33kV outgoing feeders at the Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Substations unavailable, with no load able to be nominated on the affected feeders pending the restoration of the transmission line.
The company said its engineers are currently on site assessing the extent of the damage and determining the materials and other requirements needed to commence restoration work.
TCN regretted the inconvenience caused to electricity customers receiving power supply from the affected substations, assuring them that efforts were being made to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.
The transmission company also pledged to provide further updates as restoration activities progress.
