The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State on October 1, 2026.
According to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the victims were rescued at about 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday at Amakohia Ubi Village, Imo State, following sustained and coordinated search-and-rescue operations.
The victims have since been taken for medical examination and are receiving necessary medical attention as part of the post-rescue process.
The Police said efforts have been intensified to apprehend the suspects responsible for the abduction and bring them to justice.
The Force appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support, while reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and property and responding promptly to threats to public safety.
It further stated that updates will be communicated as necessary.
