The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across 15 incidents in different states, including the foiling of a kidnapping attempt, rescue of abducted victims, arrests of suspected criminals and recovery of firearms and other exhibits.
According to a state-by-state executive summary of the Force’s operational successes for September 27, 2026, police operatives and tactical teams in Katsina State foiled an attempted kidnapping at Sabon Gari Maikomo Village on September 25. The operatives engaged the suspected bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush, while an injured victim was evacuated to the General Hospital for treatment.
In Benue State, two suspected cultists were arrested on September 26 after police responded to a distress call concerning two individuals allegedly brandishing a firearm at a youth executive election meeting. A locally fabricated pistol was recovered from the suspects.
Similarly, police operatives in Ebonyi State arrested two suspects linked to the abduction and sexual assault of two female victims. The suspects, victims and case file were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Abakaliki, for discreet investigation.
In Oyo State, police recorded three separate operational successes. A suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, with a locally made pistol and one live cartridge recovered from his possession.
Two other suspects were also arrested along the Igboora-Eruwa Expressway for allegedly vandalising electrical infrastructure, with aluminium conductor wire suspected to have been removed from electricity poles recovered from them.
Also in Oyo, police arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted murder incident at Balose Village on September 23. The injured victim was evacuated to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, for medical treatment.
In Kano State, police patrol operatives rescued an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, who was attacked by a mob at Kofar Mata. The officer was evacuated for medical treatment as police restored normalcy to the area and commenced close monitoring.
Meanwhile, rescue and tracking operations are ongoing in several states following reported abductions and attacks.
In Kebbi State, police tactical units and vigilantes were deployed to Dadin Kowa Village following an attack, with bush-combing and manhunt operations underway to rescue abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
Similar operations are ongoing in Kwara State, where police, vigilantes and forest guards are searching for an abducted victim, while another joint operation involving police, military personnel and local vigilantes is underway along the Eruku/Koro Road to locate and rescue seven missing persons.
In Enugu State, operatives of the Police VCRU have commenced concerted tracking and bush-combing operations following the abduction of a female victim.
In Anambra State, police and other security personnel have launched a bush-combing operation to rescue six abducted persons and apprehend the suspects.
Four kidnapped victims in Kogi State also escaped from their captors, prompting police and other security forces to commence clearance and bush-combing operations in the area.
In Niger State, combined teams of police, military personnel and local vigilantes were deployed to Saminaka Village following a reported terrorist attack and are currently tracking the perpetrators.
In Bayelsa State, search and rescue operations are ongoing following a boat mishap at Oporoma River.
The Force said the various cases are being investigated by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, with the affected commands sustaining efforts to apprehend fleeing suspects, rescue victims and restore normalcy.
