The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to flood-affected households in 10 communities across the Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency of Cross River State.
The intervention was carried out on Friday, September 25, 2026, by NEMA’s Uyo Operations Office and led by Mr. Awoji Augustine (ACA), on behalf of the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Awoji expressed the Agency’s sympathy to the affected communities, saying the intervention formed part of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide timely humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected persons and support vulnerable households.
He said NEMA remained committed to responding to the needs of communities affected by disasters and assisting them through the recovery process.
The member representing Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpanke, commended the Federal Government and NEMA for the intervention, noting that the relief materials would help affected households cope with the impact of the floods.
Representatives of the Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force and other relevant stakeholders witnessed the distribution exercise.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Barr. Pascal Aboh thanked the Federal Government and NEMA for the intervention, saying the relief items would help cushion the effects of the floods on affected households and their livelihoods.
