The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association in recognition of his distinguished career in public service and over three decades of service to the Nigeria Police Force.
Disu was honoured on Saturday, September 26, 2026, alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, at a grand reception held in Lagos to celebrate distinguished old boys of the institution and their contributions to national service and leadership.
According to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, the award recognised Disu’s professional accomplishments and leadership journey since he completed his secondary education at St. Gregory’s College in 1985.
The IGP joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992 and has served in several operational, investigative, intelligence and command positions, including Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team and Commissioner of Police.
He was appointed the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police in February 2026.
The award also acknowledged Disu’s emphasis on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnership and the responsible use of technology to strengthen policing and public safety.
Disu expressed appreciation to the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association for the recognition, describing the honour from his alma mater as particularly significant.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the country with integrity and strengthening the Nigeria Police Force as a professional, accountable and people-centred institution.
