Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted terrorist operations in Kaduna State, recovering an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other military-related items during separate operations in Kachia Local Government Area.
According to an official statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were conducted between September 23 and 24, 2026, as troops sustained efforts to deny terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
Danja said troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists through the bushes around Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area, swiftly mobilised to the area and laid an ambush.
He said the troops engaged the terrorists after sighting them, following which they conducted a follow-up exploitation of the area.
The operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and a military jungle hat, among other items.
In a separate operation on September 23, troops of Sector 1 also conducted a clearance operation at Awom village in Kachia Local Government Area to deny terrorists and other criminal elements safe haven within the community.
During the operation, the troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Jacob, who was found in possession of a fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
The suspect remains in military custody for further investigation.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response during the operations.
It reaffirmed the troops’ commitment to sustaining offensive and clearance operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities, denying criminal elements freedom of action and protecting communities across the Joint Operations Area.
