The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned its state chairmen and other officials against demanding registration fees from support groups, declaring that the process is completely free.
According to a statement signed by Osa Director, National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, the party said it became aware that some state chairmen were demanding payments from support groups seeking registration.
The party clarified that registration of support groups does not attract any fee and is exclusively handled by its Directorate of Support Groups at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
It therefore directed all inquiries and registration requests to the Directorate, stressing that no state chapter, officer or official is authorised to register support groups or collect money for the process under any guise.
The NDC warned that any official found violating the directive would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to working with support groups, including the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements, saying it would continue to provide an enabling environment for them to contribute to the party’s activities and electoral efforts at all levels.
