The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its role in global peacekeeping and international security efforts.
General Musa stated this on Tuesday during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York, where he joined the Nigerian delegation led by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.
According to an official statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Minister of Defence, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister, after the opening session of the Assembly, paid an operational visit to the Defence Section at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations.
During the visit, the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General EA Koleosho, briefed the Minister on the Section’s strategic activities and operational commitments.
General Musa commended Koleosho and his team for their professionalism, loyalty and commitment to upholding the ideals of the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The Minister reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore and expand Nigeria’s active footprint in international peace and security efforts.
He stressed that the administration remained committed to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations across the globe as part of efforts to promote stability and security.
