The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to enhance the physical fitness, resilience and operational readiness of its personnel through the conduct of its Third Quarter Route March Exercise across formations and units nationwide.
The exercise, held simultaneously at NAF locations across the country on September 12, 2026, was designed to maintain a highly fit and combat-ready force capable of responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the exercise forms part of the Service’s sustained efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and support ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other threats to national security.
Speaking at NAF Camp Abuja on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Operations, Air Vice Marshal Precious Amadi, said physical fitness, mental resilience, discipline and teamwork remained critical to mission success across the various theatres of operation.
He explained that the quarterly route march was a strategic initiative aimed at preparing personnel for the physical demands of military operations, while also fostering cohesion and esprit de corps across the Service.
Aneke further emphasised that the exercise complements the NAF’s broader efforts to improve combat effectiveness through continuous training, capacity development and personnel welfare programmes.
The Chief of the Air Staff commended officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian personnel for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to remain vigilant and steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to the Nigerian Air Force and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Aneke reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to sustaining initiatives that strengthen operational readiness, enhance the effective projection of air power and contribute decisively to the defence, security and stability of the nation.
