The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the investigation and prosecution of money laundering cases, enhancing international cooperation, improving the use of financial intelligence and boosting asset recovery efforts.
The workshop which commenced on Tuesday at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, had in attendance senior officials of the Agency and key stakeholders in attendance.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), was represented at the opening ceremony by the Agency Secretary, Shadrach Haruna.
The workshop brings together investigators, prosecutors and other stakeholders to deepen participants’ knowledge of money laundering investigations, international collaboration, financial intelligence and asset recovery as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s response to financial crimes linked to illicit drug trafficking and organised crime.
The training is expected to enhance the capacity of law enforcement personnel to conduct more effective investigations, improve prosecution outcomes and reinforce inter-agency cooperation in tackling money laundering and other financial crimes.
The initiative underscores the NDLEA’s commitment to building a more effective criminal justice response through continuous professional development and strategic partnerships in the fight against organised crime.
