Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded another major success in the ongoing search and rescue operation, rescuing six more abducted persons as efforts continue to recover victims, including the abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the latest breakthrough followed sustained air and ground exploitation supported by credible intelligence.
The statement disclosed that troops successfully rescued six abducted persons, comprising four adults and two infants, at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State. The victims were abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area in May and have since been evacuated to a secure location, where they are undergoing comprehensive medical evaluation and receiving appropriate care.
It added that Operation HADIN KAI has also provided the rescued victims with immediate relief materials and other basic necessities to cushion the effects of their ordeal while arrangements are being made for their safe reunification with their families.
The statement noted that the latest rescue underscores the effectiveness of the coordinated search and rescue operations being conducted by Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies and auxiliary forces. It stressed that all stakeholders remain unwavering in their commitment to ensuring the safe recovery of every abducted person.
According to the statement, troops have continued to maintain aggressive pursuit of fleeing terrorists, applying sustained pressure along their withdrawal routes and denying them freedom of movement.
During the exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal axis, troops recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents, a development the military said further demonstrates the effectiveness of the ongoing offensive operations and the disorganized nature of the terrorists’ retreat under intense military pressure.
Captain Goni reaffirmed that Operation HADIN KAI would continue the search and rescue mission with renewed determination until all remaining victims are safely recovered.
He also urged law-abiding citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, while advising members of the public to disregard unverified information capable of causing unnecessary anxiety.
The statement reiterated that Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, decisively defeat terrorism, and restore lasting peace and stability across the North-East region.
