The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Rosaline on her emergence as the new Mayor of Islington, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Nigeria and a reflection of excellence, dedication, and impactful community service.
According to an official signed statement by Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Rosaline’s elevation to the prestigious office followed years of active public service and community engagement within the United Kingdom.
The statement noted that Rosaline was first elected Councillor for St. Peter’s and Canalside Ward of Islington Council in May 2022 and had since served on the Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee, the Licensing Committee, and as Deputy Mayor before her emergence as Mayor.
Dabiri-Erewa commended Rosaline’s inspiring leadership journey, stating that her emergence further underscores the growing influence and outstanding contributions of Nigerians occupying leadership positions across the globe.
According to the NiDCOM boss, Rosaline’s sustained commitment to community development, advocacy, and public service has distinguished her as a worthy ambassador of Nigeria in the United Kingdom.
Before becoming a councillor, Rosaline worked with several voluntary organisations, including the Islington Citizens Advice Bureau, where she currently serves part-time as an adviser.
She also previously worked in the Marketing Department of the London Symphony Orchestra as Customer Service and Office Coordinator and remained an active member of the Orchestra’s Community Choir for more than two decades.
The statement further revealed that Rosaline has a background in broadcasting and had worked with Radio Nigeria before relocating to the United Kingdom. She was also appointed to the Board of Trustees of St Luke’s Centre in May 2022.
Beyond her professional engagements, she is said to be passionate about singing, fashion designing, clothing production, and gardening.
Dabiri-Erewa expressed confidence that Rosaline would bring her experience, compassion, and leadership qualities to bear in her new role as she prepares for her official installation as Mayor of Islington on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
She also encouraged Nigerians in the Diaspora to continue distinguishing themselves positively in their respective fields and contributing meaningfully to their host communities and national development.
