President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development for an initial term of four years.
The President also approved the constitution of the Governing Council of the Centre, with Princess Joan Jummai Idonije appointed as Chairman.
According to an official signed statement by Head, Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and issued by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.
The statement noted that the appointment, which took effect from April 18, 2026, was made in line with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.
Members of the newly constituted Governing Council include Ms. Lois Auta, Hon. Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, and Hon. Princess Anne Agom-Eze.
President Tinubu congratulated the Director-General and members of the Governing Council on their appointments and wished them success in their assignments.
