2027: Kwankwaso Rallies Nigerians for Mass NDC, Voter Registration as Reps Caucus Vows Fierce Opposition Role

By Nkechi Eze

Former Kano State Governor and prominent leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged Nigerians to enrol massively in the NDC and register with the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that broad political participation would pave the way for the “positive change” the country urgently needs.

Kwankwaso made the appeal on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with members of the NDC caucus in the House of Representatives, who paid a courtesy visit to the residence of the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson.

The delegation, led by House Minority Leader Victor Afam Ogene, comprised several lawmakers across different states, while former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and other party stakeholders were also in attendance.

Addressing the gathering, Kwankwaso stressed that participation in both party and voter registration processes was critical for citizens seeking to influence the nation’s political direction in 2027.

He called on party loyalists to return to their constituencies and intensify mobilisation efforts at the grassroots, especially among youths and Nigerians advocating political change.

The former governor also praised the lawmakers for remaining steadfast in their allegiance to the party, describing loyalty as increasingly scarce within Nigeria’s political space. He assured them that the party leadership would continue to work closely with them to achieve collective success ahead of future elections.

Speaking on behalf of the caucus, Ogene reaffirmed the lawmakers’ dedication to advancing the party’s ideals and defending the interests of Nigerians through effective opposition politics in the National Assembly.

He stated that the caucus would continue to hold the Federal Government accountable by demanding policies and programmes capable of improving citizens’ welfare and deepening democratic governance.

Ogene further declared that the NDC had firmly established itself as the dominant opposition bloc in the House of Representatives, noting that the party’s growing strength would boost its influence and national visibility.

He also reiterated the caucus’ loyalty to both the party leadership and the Nigerian people, pledging unwavering commitment to the NDC’s mission and democratic principles.
