In a bid to strengthen community engagement and foster public trust, the Nasarawa State Police Command has unveiled a comprehensive programme of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” The week-long celebration is designed to highlight the police’s commitment to service, safety, and collaboration with residents across the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the activities will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, with a statewide sanitation exercise targeting motor parks and other identified public spaces, complemented by a medical outreach at Yahaya Sabo Motor Park, Bukan Sidi, Lafia, running from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

On Tuesday, March 31, officers and members of the public will participate in a walkathon starting from the Nasarawa State Police Command Headquarters along Shendam Road to Lafia City Stadium and back, promoting unity, fitness, and community solidarity.

Wednesday, April 1, will feature a community outreach programme aimed at sensitising residents on the dangers of electoral violence, ballot snatching, and other offences, while also educating drivers on safe driving practices and compliance with traffic regulations.

The following day, Thursday, April 2, the Command will honour fallen officers by presenting cheques to the families of deceased personnel at its headquarters in Lafia.

The celebration will culminate on Tuesday, April 7, with a grand finale at Eagle Square, Abuja, featuring a ceremonial parade and tactical display, showcasing the discipline, operational readiness, and professionalism of the Force.

Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, called on the public to actively participate in the events and collaborate with the Police in building safer communities, emphasizing that the celebrations provide a platform to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the citizens they serve.
