The Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Sunday joined leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to advance preparations for the party’s forthcoming National Convention.

Umahi participated in the meeting of the National Convention Sub-Committee on Venue, where he serves as Vice Chairman alongside the Chairman, Dapo Abiodun.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaze, the meeting was held on March 8, 2026, as part of ongoing arrangements to ensure the successful hosting of the convention.

During the meeting, members of the committee reviewed key logistical and operational plans designed to guarantee a smooth and well-organised convention. Discussions focused on critical areas including security arrangements, event branding, VIP protocols, uniforms and other logistics necessary for the successful conduct of the event.

Following the deliberations, members of the committee proceeded to Eagle Square, the designated venue for the convention, where they carried out an on-the-spot inspection to assess the level of preparedness and ensure that necessary facilities and arrangements are in place.

Beyond his role as Vice Chairman of the Venue Sub-Committee, Umahi is also the Chairman of the National Convention Sub-Committee on Accommodation and Transportation, where preparations are ongoing to ensure smooth movement and adequate lodging for delegates and party leaders expected to attend the convention.

The APC National Convention is expected to bring together party leaders and stakeholders from across the country as part of the party’s internal political processes and strategic planning.
