The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has charged five police officers on secondment to the Commission to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ensure that the badge they now wear is never brought into disrepute.
The admonition came during the formal decoration of the officers, who were elevated from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), in line with the established tradition of the Nigeria Police Force, which permits the Chief Executive Officer of a host agency to officiate the decoration of officers seconded to it.
The newly promoted officers—Amazama Dennis, Andrew Aliyu Maro, Danladi Embaga, Caleb Gabnok and Elizebeth Akor—were decorated at a ceremony presided over by the ICPC Chairman. According to an official statement signed by the Commission’s spokesperson, J. Okor Odey, Dr. Aliyu was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Clifford Okwudili Oparaodu, DSSRS.
Congratulating the officers on their elevation, Dr. Aliyu described the promotion as a significant milestone and a call to renewed dedication. He noted that the honour was not merely ceremonial but a recognition of diligence, commitment and professional growth.
“Your promotion today is a testament to your hard work and commitment to service. It is, therefore, my duty to urge you to continue to give your very best. Do not disgrace that badge which has been pinned on you today,” he advised.
The ICPC Chairman further exhorted the officers to remain steadfast in honesty and uprightness, stressing that recognition and career advancement often follow those who consistently uphold integrity in public service.
Reinforcing the message, Mr. Oparaodu reminded the newly decorated ASPs of their integral role within the ICPC family and warned against any conduct capable of tarnishing the Commission’s reputation.
“We will not tolerate indolence,” he declared. “What is paramount to us at the ICPC is integrity. You must at all times respect superior authorities and carry out only your lawful duties.”
The promotions form part of a nationwide exercise conducted by the Police Service Commission, which on January 29, 2026, announced the elevation of 26,119 Inspectors to the rank of ASP. The process was described as rigorous and merit-based, involving written examinations and oral interviews.
The Force Headquarters confirmed that the exercise aligns with its broader manpower development policy, aimed at rewarding competence, professional qualifications and years of dedicated service.
For the five officers decorated at the ICPC, the ceremony marked not only a step up in rank but also a renewed charge to embody discipline, loyalty and integrity in the ongoing fight against corruption.
