The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Thursday hosted the National Police Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Commissioner Shanta Emily Knowles, OM, in Abuja, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to stronger policing partnerships between Nigeria and The Bahamas.

Commissioner Knowles, who was received at the Force Headquarters during a courtesy visit on 4 December 2025, engaged the IGP in high-level discussions aimed at enhancing international cooperation on modern law enforcement strategies.

According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the meeting focused on broadening collaboration in critical areas such as training and capacity development, intelligence gathering, modern security partnership frameworks, and strengthened border management systems. The dialogue underscored the determination of both policing institutions to jointly tackle transnational crimes and promote more effective operational synergy.

IGP Egbetokun commended the renewed cooperation, describing it as an important step towards elevating the professional capacity and global engagement of the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the partnership would open new avenues for the exchange of expertise, joint training programmes, and collaborative security initiatives, all essential for improving policing outcomes and boosting national security in both countries.

“The exchange of knowledge and coordinated security operations will significantly enhance our efforts in protecting our nations and supporting global security,” the IGP was quoted as saying.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining productive international partnerships that contribute to safer communities at home and abroad.
