The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has warned Corps members across the country to desist from negative usage of social media, stressing that any Corps member found posting content capable of tarnishing the image of the Scheme or the nation would face sanctions.

The warning was issued during his address to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku. Director, Information and Public Relations of the Scheme, Caroline Embu, disclosed this in an official signed statement.

Brigadier General Nafiu urged the Corps members to channel their online presence towards promoting the positive ideals of the NYSC and the country, encouraging them to produce content that uplifts rather than harms. He further cautioned them against embarking on unauthorised journeys during the service year, stressing the need for obedience and adherence to camp and service guidelines.

“Follow simple instructions, be obedient, go for your biometrics and go for your Community Development Service,” he said. He also advised them to, “Learn and respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent us at your place of primary assignment.”

Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, presented a camp situation report to the DG, revealing that 2,101 Corps members—comprising 944 males and 1,157 females—were deployed to the State for the new batch. He added that camp activities had been running smoothly with the full participation of all officials and Corps members, who had demonstrated a high level of discipline.
