The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral report claiming that armed kidnappers invaded St. Peter’s Academy in Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area, and abducted two pupils. The Command clarified that thorough investigations revealed no incident of kidnapping at the school.

In an official signed statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the circulating report “is false and does not reflect the true state of affairs.” He explained that at about 10:00 a.m. on November 21, 2025, the Command received an unverified alert alleging that two pupils were abducted while taking part in sporting activities on the school field.

Nansel stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed a combined detachment of police operatives and military personnel stationed in the area to the school. Upon arrival, security teams discovered that the pupils had sighted a group of hunters carrying Dane guns and, out of fear, ran away, assuming the hunters to be kidnappers.

He noted that the area was thoroughly combed and normalcy promptly restored. The proprietor of the school also confirmed to operatives that no abduction occurred and that the alarm raised was a false one. Security personnel have continued to maintain close monitoring of the general area to prevent any breach of peace.

The Command urged the public to disregard the rumour in circulation, describing it as misleading and unworthy of being published as factual news. It also advised journalists and media organisations to always verify information before dissemination to avoid creating unnecessary panic among citizens.
