The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed a pamphlet being circulated online which falsely advises corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped, describing the document as fake and not representative of the Scheme’s policies.

In a statement signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC clarified that although a similar document was once presented to the Management by a consultant in 2021, it was never approved, adopted, or issued as an official guideline. She stressed that the pamphlet currently in circulation is not an NYSC publication and should be disregarded entirely by the public, corps members, and stakeholders.

According to the statement, the Scheme has never endorsed ransom payment under any circumstances and maintains a zero-tolerance stance on misinformation that could endanger corps members or undermine ongoing security measures.

The NYSC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the welfare, safety, and overall security of corps members and staff nationwide. It assured that collaboration with security agencies and relevant partners remains a top priority as the Scheme continues to enhance protective measures across all states of deployment.

The Management urged the public to rely solely on verified NYSC communication channels for authentic information.
