His Royal Majesty Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, the Mbege Ka Michika of Adamawa State, has commended the leadership and developmental contributions of Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while assuring that his kingdom is ready to collaborate with the agency in tackling substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The royal commendation and pledge of cooperation were made on Monday, 10th November 2025, during a courtesy visit by the Michika monarch and members of his council to the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja, where Marwa, an indigene of Michika, received the delegation.

Prof. Gadiga highlighted Marwa’s long-standing efforts in the development of Michika, noting his contributions to infrastructure, scholarship programs, and other community initiatives. The monarch said, “We’re here to appreciate all the support you have given us and to express our support for the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to eradicate illicit drugs, which you have been doing very, very effectively. Your efforts are visible for all to see, and we’re grateful to God for the leadership qualities He has bestowed on you that have made you a household name not only in our kingdom but all over Nigeria.”

The monarch further emphasized the importance of community collaboration in the fight against drugs, revealing that letters had been sent to churches and mosques to inform citizens that the Michika kingdom would not tolerate drug abuse or trafficking. He also expressed openness to further partnership with NDLEA in sensitization programs and enforcement of drug laws.

In his response, Marwa congratulated Prof. Gadiga on his recent appointment to the exalted stool and expressed appreciation for being considered among the first set of indigenes to receive a chieftaincy title. He stressed that drug abuse is a societal challenge requiring collective action.

“We appreciate the support that Your Majesty has rendered and continues to render to the NDLEA Command in Michika, especially in logistics. We hope this example can be copied by other royal fathers. The fight against illicit drugs is not for NDLEA alone; it’s the responsibility of government, traditional institutions, religious leaders, communities, and everyone,” Marwa stated.

He also called on the monarch to establish a drug control committee within the kingdom to maintain daily collaboration with NDLEA and to continue sensitizing youths against the dangers of illicit drugs, noting their adverse effects on health, families, and communities.

The monarch’s entourage included Gen. Bitrus Kangye (rtd), Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, Dr. John Quaghe, and Halima Buba.

This engagement underscores NDLEA’s commitment to partnering with traditional institutions and local communities to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking across Nigeria.
