The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Professor Idayat Bolanle Owolabi, a Nigerian-born academic, on her conferment with the prestigious title of Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by His Majesty, King Charles III, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the health sector in the United Kingdom.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Media and Public Relations Unit of NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, who disclosed that Prof. Owolabi, a distinguished graduate of the University of Ibadan, was named among the recipients of the King’s Birthday Honours 2025, officially announced on October 10, 2025.

Balogun noted that Prof. Owolabi’s recognition marks a proud moment for Nigeria, highlighting her remarkable career trajectory and exemplary service in the medical field, which have brought honour to the nation and inspired many across the diaspora.

In her congratulatory message, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa described Prof. Owolabi’s feat as a historic achievement and a source of immense pride for Nigeria and its global community. She lauded the Nigerian scholar for her dedication, excellence, and integrity, which she said have made her a shining example of the positive contributions Nigerians are making worldwide.

“Her success powerfully underscores the immense talent in our diaspora community. We are proud of her and anticipate even greater achievements ahead,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

The NiDCOM boss further emphasised the importance of celebrating Nigerians who distinguish themselves globally, noting that such recognition helps reshape global narratives and reinforces the value of hard work, professionalism, and national pride.

She reaffirmed that NiDCOM remains committed to connecting with, honouring, and supporting Nigerians abroad who excel in their various fields and continue to project the nation’s image positively through exceptional integrity and professional distinction.
