The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters in Anambra State will commence on Wednesday, 22nd October, and end on Sunday, 26th October 2025. The exercise is for individuals who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) ahead of the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, registered voters who took part in the CVR exercise are advised to visit their respective Registration Areas where they originally registered to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period. She emphasised that PVC collection will be conducted strictly in person, noting that there will be no collection by proxy under any circumstance. Mrs. Eta-Messi also urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain their cards in order to be eligible to participate in the forthcoming election.
In the same statement, the Commission disclosed that it will conduct a Mock Accreditation Exercise on Saturday, 25th October 2025, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of the state. The exercise, INEC explained, is aimed at testing the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), assessing its response time, and evaluating the process of uploading results on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal ahead of the governorship election.
The mock accreditation will take place in selected polling units across the senatorial zones, including Awka South and Idemili North in Anambra Central; Oyi and Anambra East in Anambra North; as well as Aguata and Orumba North in Anambra South. Some of the specific polling units designated for the test include Igwédimma Primary School I and II in Amawbia, Ububa Village Square and Ifeadigo Hall in Nkpor, Girls Secondary School and State Primary School in Nteje, Central School and Umunoke Public Square in Aguleri, Central School and Urban Girls Secondary School in Ekwulobia, and RCM KDT School and Primary School in Ajalli.
INEC encouraged registered voters in these polling units to participate actively in the mock accreditation, noting that their involvement would help the Commission fine-tune both operational and technological processes before the main election.
Reaffirming its commitment to credible and transparent electoral processes, INEC assured the people of Anambra State that it remains dedicated to operational efficiency, accountability, and stakeholder confidence as preparations for the 2025 Governorship Election intensify.
