The Nigerian Armed Forces have announced significant operational successes across the country during the month of September, with troops operating under various Joint Task Forces recording sweeping gains against terrorists, bandits, extremists, oil thieves and other criminal elements. The coordinated operations, spanning the North East, North West, North Central, South-South and South East regions, were carried out with precision, determination and a commitment to safeguarding civilian lives, according to an official statement released by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye.
Giving a strategic update on the nationwide security operations, Major General Kangye explained that the missions were executed under the mandate of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Joint Task Force North Central Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Joint Task Force North Central Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), and Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA (OPUK). He said the operations were initiated in direct response to escalating threats and hostile actions, while also supporting humanitarian activities in affected communities.
“Our primary objectives were to disrupt enemy capabilities, secure key terrain, and support humanitarian efforts. Significant progress has been made, and our commanders on the ground continue to assess the situation to ensure stability and prevent further escalation. We remain fully committed to transparency, accountability, and the lawful execution of all missions in accordance with international and domestic rules of engagement. The safety of our personnel and the protection of innocent lives remain top priorities,” Kangye declared.
