The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its onslaught against insurgents in the North East, launching precision air strikes that neutralised scores of terrorists and destroyed their enclave in Borno State.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed that the operation was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK) at about 10:50 am on 17 September 2025.
According to him, the strikes followed days of intelligence gathering and surveillance, which detected unusual movements at Bula Madibale in the Gezuwa general area. Reconnaissance revealed a gathering of about 45 terrorists, with many arriving on motorcycles and bicycles from different directions to converge on the location. Two terrorist flags were also observed hoisted at the site, indicating its significance as a stronghold and rallying point for insurgents.
“Acting on this credible intelligence, the Air Component launched a coordinated air interdiction, achieving devastating impact. Several terrorists at the gathering point were eliminated, while the flagged structure and other hostile assets were destroyed,” Air Commodore Ejodame said.
He stressed that the operation demonstrated the NAF’s resolve to sustain pressure on insurgents and deny them the freedom to regroup, reinforce, or launch attacks on innocent communities.
The latest strikes come as part of ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces to restore peace and stability in the North East, where insurgents continue to pose a threat to civilian populations despite recent setbacks.
Air Commodore Ejodame assured Nigerians that the NAF, working in synergy with sister services and other security agencies, remains unwavering in its commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and securing law-abiding citizens.
