The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful completion of an upgrade to its diaspora enrollment platform, a move aimed at ensuring more efficient, secure, and seamless National Identification Number (NIN) services for Nigerians living abroad.
In an official signed statement, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, disclosed that the enhanced platform will deliver robust, secure, and user-friendly enrolment processes, significantly improving service delivery for diaspora applicants.
According to Dr. Adegoke, all NIMC Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) have been onboarded onto the upgraded system and provided with intensive training to equip them with the technical skills and operational knowledge required for effective use of the new platform. He added that all FEPs must obtain and activate their NIN enrolment licenses on the enhanced platform within 48 hours, after which diaspora applicants will be able to access enrolment services only from compliant partners.
“The upgrade process, which has now been completed, is designed to provide a seamless, robust, more secure, efficient and effective NIN service delivery to Nigerians in the Diaspora,” the statement read.
NIMC apologised for any inconvenience experienced during the upgrade period and assured applicants that a dedicated service team has been established to handle all issues related to diaspora enrolment. The Commission advised applicants facing challenges to contact the NIMC support desk via nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng for prompt resolution.
Meanwhile, NIN enrolment activities remain ongoing at all approved centres across Nigeria, with applicants encouraged to locate the nearest centre through the Commission’s official website, www.nimc.gov.ng. Both Nigerians at home and those abroad can also make changes to their NIN data via the self-service modification portal at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.
In a related development, NIMC reminded NIN holders to download the NINAuthApp from either the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to instantly verify their NINs, control access to their personal information, approve verification requests, and enjoy faster authentication services.
With this technological upgrade, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening identity management services for Nigerians worldwide, ensuring that all citizens whether in the country or abroad, can access reliable, secure, and efficient NIN services.
