The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing staff welfare, describing it as central to the Ministry’s drive for improved institutional efficiency and service delivery.
Speaking during the official commissioning of a newly refurbished staff bus at the Ministry’s headquarters, Ship House, Abuja, Ambassador Aduda emphasized that the initiative was more than a transportation upgrade, it symbolized a broader vision for a more inclusive and supportive work environment.
“This refurbished bus is not just a means of transport; it is a statement of our commitment to improving the working conditions and overall well-being of our dedicated personnel,” he declared. “We will continue to roll out projects and policies that boost staff morale and enhance the work environment.”
The event, held amid expressions of appreciation and optimism, drew directors, union leaders, and a cross-section of staff members. The upgraded vehicle is expected to ease daily commuting challenges and reduce the stress associated with transportation, which many employees face in the Federal Capital Territory.
Ambassador Aduda also disclosed that the transportation support scheme would be executed in phases to ensure inclusivity and that all departments under the Ministry benefit over time.
“This initiative will be expanded gradually to ensure that as many staff as possible enjoy improved access to transport. Our goal is to increase productivity by reducing the physical strain and financial pressure that staff face while commuting to and from work,” he added.
Directors and union representatives in attendance praised Ambassador Aduda’s commitment to staff-centered governance. Several staff members described the move as “timely” and “impactful,” affirming that it had boosted morale and reaffirmed their confidence in the Ministry’s leadership.
The Principal Superintendent of Press, Patience Ituke, who disclosed details of the development in an official statement, noted that this latest gesture was one in a series of welfare-oriented reforms championed by Ambassador Aduda since assuming office.
With this move, the Ministry of Defence once again signals its intent to foster a supportive workplace culture that not only delivers on national security objectives but also prioritizes the welfare of its workforce.
