In a major operational success against terrorism, troops of Operation HADIN KAI and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), working in concert with Hybrid Forces and other security agencies, have neutralized ten Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a fierce gun battle along the Rann–Gamboru Ngala axis, close to the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
The encounter, which took place during a combined clearance operation in the Southern Lake Chad Basin, was strategically executed to flush out remnants of insurgents terrorizing border communities and disrupting regional stability.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, the troops acted on credible intelligence and stormed the terrorists’ hideout in the area. What followed was an intense exchange of gunfire that ended with the terrorists being overpowered by the superior firepower of Nigerian-led forces.
“The gallant troops successfully eliminated ten terrorists in the firefight. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds, were recovered at the scene,” the statement noted.
The weapons seized are currently undergoing technical analysis as troops continue search efforts to locate any escapees and additional hideouts within the region. The operation is part of a broader campaign to dominate the Southern Lake Chad axis and block cross-border terrorist movements.
Major General Kangye affirmed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, alongside the MNJTF, Hybrid Forces, and other security agencies, have ramped up operational activities in the Lake Chad Basin and across Northern Borno to stamp out the remaining terrorist elements from the region.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting the military with timely information as security forces sustain pressure on insurgent strongholds.
