The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has honoured the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, with its prestigious Diamond Merit Award, recognising his exemplary leadership, transparency, and accountability in public service.
The award, presented during ICAN’s Annual Dinner and Merit Award Ceremony held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, was conferred under the “Member Accountant” category, an honour reserved for distinguished professionals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the advancement of their fields and the accounting profession.
In his address, President of ICAN, Mr. Davidson Stephen Alaribe, described the Corps Marshal as a model of transformational leadership whose tenure has elevated the operations and reputation of the FRSC. “This award is not merely about professional affiliation. It is a recognition of excellence, integrity, and accountability. Shehu Mohammed has consistently demonstrated these values in his stewardship of the Federal Road Safety Corps,” Alaribe said.
Responding to the recognition, an elated Corps Marshal Mohammed expressed deep gratitude to the Institute for what he described as a meaningful and motivating honour. “This award is not just a celebration of past efforts; it is a call to deepen our commitment to transparency, service delivery, and innovation,” he stated. “I am humbled by this recognition and dedicate it to the hardworking men and women of the FRSC whose efforts continue to make the Corps a model public institution.”
He commended ICAN for upholding the highest standards in the accounting profession and for its objectivity in recognising individuals who have made a real impact across sectors.
