The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reiterated the resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces to decisively end the insurgency in the North-East region. He made this known during an operational visit to the Headquarters of the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force, North-East Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri on Thursday, 15 May 2025.

According to an official signed statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, General Musa assured that additional platforms and combat enablers would be deployed to the theatre to bolster ongoing military operations.

While receiving a briefing on recent operational developments across the theatre, the CDS urged troops to sustain a tenacious and aggressive posture against Boko Haram terrorists. He emphasized that the military remains the nation’s final hope and must not relent in its mission.

Prior to his arrival at the Theatre Command Headquarters, General Musa visited Giwa Barracks to assess the aftermath of a recent explosion. He was briefed by the Commander of 47 Engineers Brigade, Brigadier General Abdul-Razak Kazeem, and commended the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel for their swift action in securing the area. He also encouraged them to maintain high standards of discipline, assuring them of the necessary support.

The statement noted that General Musa was accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from the Defence and Services Headquarters, underscoring the spirit of jointness and inter-service cooperation in counter-insurgency operations.

Earlier, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the CDS’s visit, describing it as a testament to the importance the Defence Headquarters attaches to Operation HADIN KAI.
