…urges vigilance and consolidation of gains

By Nkechi Eze

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has called on Nigerian Air Force personnel deployed in various theatres of operation to remain vigilant, focused, and committed to the ultimate goal of safeguarding the nation. He made the call during an operational visit to frontline troops in Katsina State on Monday, 13 May 2025, as part of events commemorating the Nigerian Air Force’s 61st anniversary.

In a statement made available by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the CAS reminded troops that the ongoing celebrations should not detract from their constitutional duty to protect Nigeria and its citizens.

“Even as we mark 61 years of dedicated service, we must give our fellow countrymen more reasons to hope—more victories that reassure them that their Air Force remains alert, ready, and determined to defeat all enemies of peace,” he said.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that although considerable progress has been recorded in the fight against insurgents, terrorists, and bandits, there must be no let-up in the momentum of operations.

“Yes, we have achieved commendable milestones, but this is not the time to slow down. We must not rest on our oars. Now is the time to consolidate and intensify our air strikes,” he charged.

He reaffirmed that Nigerian Air Force assets remain fully deployed across operational theatres nationwide and that the Force’s ongoing anniversary events are not only a celebration of history and achievements but also a platform to demonstrate enhanced readiness and operational capability.

“Nigerians can be rest assured that we remain fully committed to our constitutional mandate. We will continue to give our very best in defence of our nation,” he declared.

The Air Chief also used the opportunity to assess facilities and operational platforms at the Katsina base, engaging directly with deployed personnel. The visit, he noted, reflects the leadership’s unwavering commitment to troop welfare, operational efficiency, and civil-military synergy as part of a broader strategy to restore peace and stability to troubled regions.

The 61st anniversary celebrations of the Nigerian Air Force continue with a series of activities designed to highlight the Force’s contributions to national security and its enduring commitment to service.
