In a significant move to strengthen education and community development in the Lake Chad region, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has commissioned a newly constructed and fully furnished nursery school in Mora, Cameroon.
The St. Joseph Nursery School, built under the MNJTF’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative, was officially commissioned by the Force Commander, Major General Godwin Mutkut. The project, which includes two classrooms and a staff room, is aimed at providing a conducive learning environment for early childhood education in a region long affected by insecurity.

Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, chief military information officer HQ MNJTF N’djamena chad, in an official signed statement disclosed that speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Major General Mutkut emphasized the indispensable role of education in building a progressive society. “Education is not just a priority; it is a necessity,” he said. “We must encourage our children to learn not just by saying it, but by creating opportunities like this that make a bold statement against those who seek to undermine education.”

The Force Commander highlighted the MNJTF’s ongoing commitment to supporting civilian communities through a series of quick-impact projects designed to rebuild essential infrastructure and foster stronger ties between military forces and the local population. He urged the community to take full ownership of the school and maintain the facility for future generations.
The Director of St. Joseph Nursery School, Ms. Justine Suke, expressed deep appreciation to the MNJTF and the African Union, which funded the project. “This school will serve as a beacon of hope and a strong educational foundation for the children of Mora and surrounding communities,” she said.
The event drew notable attendees, including the representative of the Mayor of Mora Council, Commander Sector 1, senior military staff officers from MNJTF and Sector 1, staff of the AU Mission Support Team, and members of the local community.
This commissioning marks another milestone in the MNJTF’s efforts to restore normalcy and development to conflict-affected areas around Lake Chad, reinforcing the crucial link between security and socio-economic progress.
