New NIMC Service Fees Take Effect Immediately, FG Warns Against Price Gouging

The federal government has increased the charges for services rendered by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

NIMC is the agency responsible for issuing the National Identity Number, NIN, and allied products and services.

Head, Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke (Ph.D), disclosed in an official statement that the in hike in prices is due to the current operational costs.

The statement which was captioned: NIMC APPROVES REVIEW OF FEES FOR ITS SERVICES AND PRODUCTS explained that it reviewed its products and services in order with industry standards, among other reasons. The Commission said although it had maintained same pricing structure for a decade, adding that it conducted a comprehensive review to ensure alignment with current operational costs and industry standards.

The statement further disclosed “The revised pricing structure aims to maintain the quality and integrity of NIMC’s services while ensuring affordability and accessibility for Nigerians. The new prices will take effect immediately.

“NIMC warns all Front-End Partners (FEPs) to adhere strictly to the new pricing structure. Any FEP found charging more than the approved rates will face sanctions, including license revocation.

“NIMC is committed to protecting the interests of Nigerians and ensuring that our services are delivered at fair and transparent prices.

“The new pricing structure will be published on NIMC’s website -www.nimc.gov.ng (where it will be accessible to all Nigerians and relevant stakeholders.

“NIMC reaffirms its commitment to providing secure and reliable identity services to Nigerians.

“We encourage the public to report any FEP charging above the approved rates to our inspectorate and enforcement unit via ieu@nimc.gov.ng or call 08155015388.” The statement concluded.
