Preparatory to a hitch-free 2025 Batch ‘A’ Service Year, top managers of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have disclosed their readiness to adequately meet the expectations of Corps Members, leveraging emotional intelligence.

Caroline Embu, Acting Director Information and Public Relations in an official signed statement disclosed that the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu while addressing participants of 2025 Batch ‘A’ Pre-Orientation Workshop holding in Abuja, revealed that Corps Members would enjoy increased security and adequate welfare throughout their service year.

He said the workshop with the theme; “Redefining the Orientation Programme to Suit the Requirement for the Contemporary Corps Members”, was packaged to equip State Coordinators, Camp Directors, Camp Commandants and other collaborating agencies with strategies that would enable them execute their tasks seamlessly.

General Nafiu who commended the NYSC Staff for the successes recorded during previous orientation exercises appealed for more commitment during the forthcoming 2025 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course.

“We must evolve in ways to suit the requirements of today’s Corps Members without allowing indiscipline in our Orientation Exercises.

Although NYSC has no religious or political bias, we must be creative in addressing challenges and situations in our camps.

Other areas this workshop will focus on include, mental health awareness and emotional intelligence, mentorship and motivation, social media influence, substance abuse and teamwork among Camp officials”, he said.

Earlier, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka in his welcome address said the workshop was organized for NYSC Top Management, representatives of Collaborating Agencies and other key officers of the Scheme, to review the conduct of previous Orientation Courses with a view to mapping out strategies towards improved performance.
