The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) led by its commander Major General Goodwin Michael Mutkut has achieved a major milestone in enhancing access to clean water, with the inauguration of a solar-powered borehole in Gouldjouwan, a community situated approximately 10 kilometers from Mora in Cameroon.


The facility, boasting a tank capacity of 10 cubic meters, is to provide the community with a reliable source of clean and safe water.

The commissioning ceremony led by the FC was attended by key military commanders from Sector 1 Mora, staff officers from MNJTF Headquarters, and representatives from Defence Council International.
Major General Mutkut in his remarks, emphasized that the initiative was made possible through the generous support of the European Union and its partners. According to Maj. Gen. Mutkut “this underscores the importance of clean water to humanity as water brings life”.

He reiterated his commitment towards ensuring communities in the Lake Chad region have access to fundamental resources like clean water.
Major General Mutkut further encouraged the Gouldjouwan community to utilize the facility responsibly, noting that the successful management of the project could pave the way for similar future initiatives.
In his remarks, the Commander Sector 1 Colonel Tiokap Pierre Loti highlighted the successful collaboration between the military and the civilian population in achieving the milestone.

He urged the community to maintain the facility and called for continued support from partners, particularly the European Union, to extend such initiatives to other communities.
The representative of the Defence Council International Brigadier General Stephane Caiazzo (retired) who facilitated the project stated that the state-of-the-art borehole is equipped with solar panels for water treatment, micro filters, an automatic chrome dispenser, and a high-voltage pump to ensure efficient water supply.
He noted that project is a result of a partnership between the MNJTF, Defense Council International (DCI) and funding from the European Union towards ensuring that internally displaced persons affected by the Boko Terrorists return to their anccestral homes

Mr. Zake Bukar, representative of the Mayor of Mora, extended his heartfelt thanks to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) for their tireless efforts in promoting the well-being of the community. He praised the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to enhancing access to clean water and improving the quality of life for the people of Gouldjouwan, citing the newly commissioned water facility as a shining example of their dedication.
