In a bid to further expand its impact and contribute to the nation’s health sector, the NYSC has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with the National Blood Service Agency.

A statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Acting Director information and public relations, Caroline Embu disclosed that this collaborative effort aims to be further strengthened in order to save more lives from infant, maternal mortality and other forms of critical health challenges.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed disclosed this when he hosted the Director General of the National Blood Service Agency, Prof. Saleh Yuguda who led other members of the agency on a courtesy visit to the NYSC NDHQ, in Maitama, Abuja.

“The NYSC is a vital institution in youth and national development, added that the relevance of the Scheme since inception cannot be over-emphasized.” He said.

Professor Saleh in his remarks lauded the NYSC Management under the leadership of Brigadier General YD Ahmed for granting the agency’s request to access the Orientation Camps to sensitize Corps Members on the importance of safe blood donation.

He added that the agency’s primary responsibility is to guarantee a steady supply of safe blood, making it readily available to those who require it.

He further stated that, the agency operates in 17 States of the federation, while requesting that the NYSC Management grants the creation of a Community Development Service (CDS) group on blood donation, and also the posting of Corps Doctors to its Zonal Offices for enhanced service delivery.

General Ahmed assured that the request would be looked into by the NYSC Management.
