Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for embracing innovation and undergoing a remarkable digital transformation.
The President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) today during the commissioning ceremony of the NYSC Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio, located at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

According to Sen. Oluremi, the initiative is a remarkable and significant step in modernizing the NYSC history.
The First Lady emphasized that these innovations will significantly boost the NYSC’s ability to highlight its remarkable history and provide an interactive platform for future generations to learn and engage with Nigeria’s heritage.

“I am honoured to be here for the commissioning of the National Youth Service Corps Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio. This event highlights the significant contributions of the NYSC since its establishment in 1973, particularly its pivotal role in fostering patriotism, promoting national unity, and service among Nigerian youths.
“I commend the Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed and the entire management team and staff of the NYSC scheme for this visionary step towards preserving the legacy of this noble institution”, she said.

The First Lady highlighted that the museum showcases the significant impact of Corps Members’ selfless contributions across various sectors, including: Science and Technology: pioneering innovative solutions, Agricultural Development: driving progress and improvement, Healthcare Delivery: enhancing the quality of healthcare services, Human Rights: advocating for and protecting the rights of all and Community Service: making a positive difference in communities nationwide.
These contributions, according to the First Lady, have left a lasting legacy and demonstrate the Corps Members’ dedication to national development.
Additionally, the First Lady stated that the museum represents the various interventions by Corps Members, who, through their selfless services have left indelible marks across diverse sectors of the economy, pioneering innovations in science and technology, advancing agricultural development, improving healthcare delivery, championing human rights, and contributing to community service.
“The Nigerian youth embodies an indomitable spirit that the world admires, with a spirit of resilience, innovation and boundless energy” she said.
Adding that “Whether facing challenges or opportunities, Nigerian youth rise with unshakeable determination, proving that their strength lies in unity and the promise of a brighter tomorrow for our nation. I celebrate you all. History is at the cornerstone of our national development. When we study the past, we can better understand the present and forge new paths for the future. By embracing technology in this initiative, the NYSC has aligned itself with global best practices”
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, in his welcome address, highlighted the significance of the museum as a vital hub for research, documentation, and cultural preservation. According to him, the museum will showcase the remarkable history, innovative spirit, and creativity of Corps Members, as well as the scheme’s rich legacies and contributions to national life.

“As we unveil this digital facility, we are reminded of the importance of preserving our history amidst the complexities of today’s world. The museum will not only serve as a repository for artifacts and memories, but will also become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors who seek to understand the invaluable contributions of our youth to national development.
The digital enhancement of the museum reflects its commitment to embracing technology in their approach to heritage and education.
“With this development, the updated gallery is set to become a hub for learning and inspiration, which will provide researchers, students and visitors with access to valuable materials that document the NYSC’s impact on society”, he said.
He stated further that the incorporation of technology would facilitate an effective interface that engages visitors in a meaningful way, fostering a deeper appreciation of our collective history and achievements.
In his goodwill message, the Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande also hailed the NYSC on the digital initiatives, saying it is one of the remarkable achievements of the NYSC, and a good way of preserving history for future generations.

He said the facility would serve as a virtual source for the history, innovations and contributions of the nation’s youth over the years.
