The President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Egbetokun, has reaffirmed her commitment to improving the lives of police widows and orphans in 2025. She made this commitment during a strategic meeting with senior officers of the Police Force Headquarters at the POWA Secretariat in Abuja.

As part of her plans, Dr. Egbetokun announced that she will embark on familiarization tours to various states, starting with Imo and Abia State Police Commands on Thursday, January 16, 2025. This move aims to provide better support and welfare to families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.

“The Association is committed to providing long-term support to families of fallen police officers and disadvantaged children of police personnel across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This dedication includes expanding existing welfare initiatives and introducing new empowerment programs tailored to address the unique challenges faced by police widows and orphans, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being” she said.

While emphasizing the need for a united front in supporting police families across Nigeria, Dr. Egbetokun urged POWA, the Nigeria Police Force, and other stakeholders to forge stronger partnerships to tackle the welfare challenges faced by police families nationwide.

As part of her familiarization tour to Imo and Abia States, Mrs. Egbetokun is set to launch innovative welfare initiatives designed to enhance the living conditions of police wives and widows in these states. This visit will also provide an opportunity for her to connect with local POWA members and beneficiaries of the association’s programs, fostering a deeper understanding of their needs and challenges.
