Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has stressed the vital role of Nigerian Air Force veterans’ expertise in bolstering national peace and security. According to the CAS, leveraging on their knowledge and experience is crucial in enhancing the country’s security landscape.
The CAS made this statement during his inaugural meeting with veterans at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Bauchi, as part of the Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) on Saturday.
Represented by Air Vice Marshal Edward Grabwet, Director of Coordination and Cooperation Civil Military Relations, highlighted the significance of veterans as a repository of knowledge and experience.
He encouraged them to contribute their ideas on tackling the nation’s challenges and promoting unity within the Nigerian Air Force.
“Veterans are important assets to the service, and we recognize the wealth of knowledge and experience they possess. We need your inputs on how to address the challenges facing our country and how to bring us back together as a family.” Abubakar said.
The CAS reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to upholding peace and security in Nigeria, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the NAF has invested in various platforms and structures to aid operations and eliminate criminal elements.
“We remain resolute in our commitment to upholding the peace and security of Nigeria. We are working tirelessly to ensure that our country remains safe and secure for all citizens.” Abubakar reiterated.
While encouraging veterans to provide their expertise to improve NAF services, Air Vice Marshal Enebong Effiom, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command in Bauchi said “Your experience and knowledge are invaluable to us, We urge you to share your insights with us, so we can continue to improve our services and better serve our country.
Responding, Retired Army Warrant Officer Ado Gali advised serving and veteran personnel to engage in farming, citing its numerous benefits for improving their livelihood.
“Farming is a viable venture that can provide a sustainable source of income. I encourage all of you to consider farming as a way to improve your livelihood and contribute to the country’s food security” he said.
The event included a range of activities, such as public lectures on Nigerian Air Force strategies, health seminars, discussions on achieving work-life balance, and presentations on Central Bank of Nigeria’s development initiatives.
