Inclusion involves creating an environment where persons with disabilities can fully participate in daily activities, have equal access to resources and opportunities, and are empowered to contribute and engage in all aspects of life to the fullest extent possible, alongside their peers.

Creating an inclusive work environment is vital for making employees feel valued and empowered to perform at their best, ultimately driving business success. By fostering inclusivity, organizations promote equality, unlock the potential of a diverse talent pool, and boost productivity. On the premise of this, the Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative AWWDI, has partnered with GIZ Nigeria to enhance accessibility in their offices in Abuja. AWWDI believes that true inclusion starts with accessible environments as accessibility is the cornerstone of inclusion.

Under this collaborative arrangement, AWWDI Developed accessible parking facilities for people with disabilities, developed an inclusive facility assessment tool based on international accessibility Metrics, developed engaging animated graphics to support simple and effective implementation, designed informational materials to promote disability awareness and support inclusive practices and empowered GIZ employees to foster inclusive workplaces through comprehensive disability awareness training.

This project showcases the positive impact of inclusive environments on equity, accessibility, and productivity. By incorporating disability-friendly infrastructure, organizations can meet global standards, promote diversity and inclusion, and create spaces that support the well-being and success of all individuals.
