The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to immediately take over the investigation into the unfortunate death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri, who passed away in mysterious circumstances while in police detention in Kwara State on Friday, December 20, 2024.
In a demonstration of his commitment to justice and accountability, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, paid a visit to Kwara State today, where he consoled with the family of the late Jimoh Abdulquadri, a 35-year-old man who was reportedly tortured to death by the police.
The IGP met with Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, who represented the family of the late Jimoh Abdulqaudri. The IGP offered his heartfelt condolences and assured the family that a thorough investigation would be conducted to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, leaving no stone unturned.
ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesman, has announced that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has instructed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the mysterious death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri while in police custody in Kwara State. The IGP has reassured the family and the public that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to upholding accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights, ensuring a conclusive investigation.
“While reiterating the Force’s zero-tolerance stance on unprofessional conduct among its personnel, the IGP called on all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the due process of law to prevail,” Adejobi said
