Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, Acting Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), has expressed his condolences to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Abuja and the families of the victims of the tragic stampede that occurred at the church earlier today.

A devastating stampede at a charity event in Abuja’s Holy Trinity Catholic Church resulted in the loss of 10 lives, including 4 children, and left 10 others injured. The tragedy occurred as the church was distributing aid to needy members of the community.

The unfortunate occurred at 6.30am today.

9 of the  injured persons who were taken to Maitama District Hospital have been discharged.

The Ag DG FEMD appealed to organizations which intend to give our food items to the less privileged to involve security agencies or FEMD.

He also advised such organizations to use coupons and divide the prospective beneficiaries into groups to avoid stampedes.

Engr. Abdulrahman further appealed to residents to use the 112 emergency toll free number in the event of a disaster.
