The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), and Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) have taken the top spots in the 2024 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), each scoring an impressive above 80%.

Several top institutions in Nigeria, including the Supreme Court, Nigeria Press Council (NPC), and Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), surprisingly scored zero in the integrity test conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Additionally, several educational institutions performed poorly in the integrity test, scoring zero points. These institutions include the Federal University of Agriculture Umudike, Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal Polytechnic Ede, and the University of Ibadan.

According to the ICPC, the disappointing performance of these institutions raises significant concerns about corruption and accountability, emphasizing the urgent need for reforms and improvements.

The ICPC unveiled its report today, Thursday, December 19, at its Abuja headquarters. According to Demola Bakare, the agency’s spokesperson, the report is based on a comprehensive nationwide assessment of 330 government institutions.

Demola Bakare explained that the commission’s evaluation assessed the ethical standards, corruption prevention measures, and governance practices of the organizations, providing a comprehensive overview of their integrity and accountability.
