Professor Charles Anosike, Director General and CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), marked his one-year anniversary in office on Monday, December 16th, 2024. To commemorate this milestone, he convened a strategic and performance review meeting with key stakeholders, including directors, senior management, and labor union representatives. This gathering aimed at reflecting on the agency’s progress, identify areas for improvement, and chart a course for future growth and success.

During the review meeting, the nine Directors of NiMet took turns presenting comprehensive reports on the progress and achievements within their respective directorates. Additionally, the Office of the Director General provided a concise summary of the agency’s overall accomplishments under the leadership of Professor Charles Anosike.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Anosike thanked the management team, the directors and staff for their understanding and also for supporting him as he continues to the execute mandate of the agency.

“I want to highlight the importance of collective bargaining with the unions. I want to assure you that I am   committed to driving the mission of our agency”.

Professor Anosike emphasized the importance of regular performance reviews and celebrating accomplishments, stating: “Embracing a culture of evaluation and recognition is crucial for growth. Failure is not inherently problematic; rather, it serves as a valuable learning opportunity. Success and failure are intertwined, and by acknowledging both, we can collectively strive for even greater achievements in the years to come”.
