President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, to the Board of Directors of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, a move aimed at bolstering the company’s leadership and optimizing its performance, as approved by the National Economic Council.

Governor Radda is one of six state governors selected to serve on the board, representing their respective geopolitical zones. The other appointed governors are from Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno State, H.E Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, and Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State.

The NDPHC, incorporated by the Federal Government, is a limited liability company, jointly owned by the three tiers of government – Federal, State, and Local Government Areas. Its primary mandate is to intervene in the power sector through the direct provision of infrastructure facilities, aiming to address the power supply gap in the country.

Commenting on his appointment, Governor Radda said, “I am deeply honoured by this appointment and the trust placed in me by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. This role presents an opportunity to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s power sector and by extension, our national development. I am committed to working diligently with my fellow board members to advance the objectives of the NDPHC and improve power supply across our nation.”

The Governor further commended President Tinubu’s decision, stating, “The inclusion of state governors on this board demonstrates the President’s commitment to collaborative governance and his recognition of the crucial role states play in national development. I assure all Nigerians that we will work tirelessly to deliver on the Renewed Hope Mandate for our collective benefit.”

This appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s power challenges through a collaborative approach, leveraging the expertise and regional insights of state governors.

Governor Radda pledges to bring his wealth of experience and his understanding of the unique power needs of the North-West region to bear in his new role, working towards sustainable solutions for Nigeria’s power sector.
